Barbaresco DOCG 2016 is ready to present itself to the world.

 

The Enoteca Regionale of Barbaresco is pleased to announce the presentation of the 2016 vintage of Barbaresco DOCG in a unique two-day Event, which will start on Sunday 28 April and end on Monday 29 April 2019, in the fascinating stage of the historic Castello di Neive and with an exceptional guest: the American wine journalist and writer Kerin O’Keefe, Italian editor of Wine Enthusiast – the authoritative American magazine dedicated to the world of wine – and author of the best-selling “Barolo and Barbaresco – The King and Queen of Italian wine”.

A prestigious event that will present the Barbaresco DOCG 2016 in all its nuances, but that is also an opportunity to immerse themselves in the many facets of the Barbaresco itself, in its history, tradition, essence, land, origin,… to tell its own story and stories.

The event will be inaugurated on Sunday 28 April with a Masterclass exclusively reserved to the Italian and international press and held by Kerin O’Keefe, “The 2016 Barbaresco Voice”, which will tell you and make you known and taste 18 labels of Barbaresco 2016 from as many wineries, to continue with a guided tour of the Castle of Neive and its historic cellars and a Tour of the MGA, accompanied by Giancarlo Montaldo, journalist and wine expert.

The event will continue on Monday 29 in the premises of the historic cellar of the Castle, with a catwalk that will gather at the tasting benches about fifty producers and will open the doors to journalists, industry professionals and all Wine Lovers, in a day of tasting that will offer the opportunity to taste different vintages of Barbaresco.

A fundamental appointment that will unveil the 2016 vintage in an exclusive preview in which Barbaresco will be the great protagonist.

PROGRAMME

DAY 1

The event “Expression – All the nuances of Barbaresco DOCG 2016” will start on Sunday 28 April in the early morning at the Piano Nobile of Castello di Neive, on an invitation-only day exclusively reserved  for the Italian and international press.

After the arrival and welcome of the guests, the Preview will be inaugurated with a Masterclass held by Kerin O’Keefe, voice of Barbaresco DOCG 2016, which will tell the story of this vintage and will introduce and taste 18 labels from as many wineries, divided into 3 tranches.

After a short and pleasant light lunch, the day will continue in the afternoon with a guided tour of Neive Castle and its historic cellars and with a tour of the MGA that will take guests to “really enter the territory”, accompanied by Giancarlo Montaldo, journalist and wine expert. The day will end with an exclusive dinner in the beautiful location of the Restaurant La Ciau del Tornavento in which journalists and professionals will meet the producers of the labels tasted during the Masterclass in the morning and will taste their wines.

Ore 14 – 18.30 GUIDED TOUR TO THE CASTLE AND THE CELLARS and TOUR OF THE MGAs

Guided tour of Neive Castle and subsequent departure for the Tour of MGAs with Giancarlo Montaldo through the hills seeing vineyards, cru, wineries and “really enter the territory”.

Ore 20 EXCLUSIVE DINNER

Kerin O’Keefe, press and producers in an exchange of views

Location Restaurant La Ciau del Tornavento with a meeting with the presence of the producers (1 representative per winery) who will be able to let journalists taste, in addition to the Barbaresco DOCG 2016, also an older vintage that they consider interesting.

DAY 2

The event “Expression – All the nuances of Barbaresco DOCG 2016” will continue on Monday 29th moving to the premises of the historic cellar of Castello di Neive, with a catwalk that will gather at the tasting benches about fifty producers who will bring for tasting different vintages of Barbaresco, in addition to Barbaresco DOCG 2016.

This second day will starts with a morning of tasting exclusively reserved for the Italian and foreign press, while in the afternoon the doors will open to all operators in the sector, buyers, professional sommeliers and Wine Lovers – by booking and purchasing the entrance ticket – who will have the opportunity to taste the best vintages of Barbaresco and Barbaresco DOCG 2016 facing directly the Producer.

DAY 2

OPEN AND INVITATION-ONLY TASTING DAY

Ore 9 – 12 TASTING RESERVED FOR JOURNALISTS

Participants in the Day 1 of Barbaresco 2016 of all participating producers present with the obligation of the presence of a representative of all companies behind the counter for tasting.

Ore 12 – 18 TASTING OPEN TO EVERYONE

Opening of the halls to accredited guests (trade operators, buyers, professional sommeliers) and to Wine Lovers who will have to pay an entrance fee of 40 € (35 if advanced at the time of booking).

Free shuttle service from Neive, departure from Piazza Garibaldi from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
